Why Numinous?
Numinous Dance, is a dance company founded in 2022 in Cornwall by dancer, choreographer and workshop facilitator Sapphire Sumpter. It also offers workshops to professional and untrained dancers.
What does Numinous mean?
A powerful feeling of both fear and fascination, of being in awe and overwhelmed by what is before you.
Originally, this word refers to having a strong religious or spiritual quality; but it can also be used to describe how you feel when you see things that are so beautiful that you realise how wonderful the world is and the small part you play in it.
We believe that dance and music are so powerful and can transform the state of everyone involved, and with the two working harmoniously together and with aligned intention it can bring about major transformation.
Our Manifesto:
Dance is one of the most natural, ancient and fundamental parts of who we are as human beings, and it is an essential part of both our daily lives and our evolution.
And so, it is our mission to remind every being of their innate ability to dance, to explore, and to reconnect with lost parts of themselves through movement.
You do not need to be a dancer to dance. So join us for an adventure through movement and discover what awaits us.
